This illustration was based on a juxtaposition of summer and winter. For this piece, I aimed to push what were traditional symbols of the two seasons to create a unique take on the subject. A warm toned mermaid represents the warmth and brightness of summer, where winter is implied with dark colours, ice, and the shape of the moon. It is paired with an editorial layout that doesn't take focus from the illustration while still being a beautiful stand alone.
